Konstantin V. Pugachev

Konstantin V. Pugachev received his B.S. degree from the Novosibirsk State University, and Ph.D. from the Novosibirsk Institute of Bio-Organic Chemistry, Novosibirsk, Russia. His graduate studies concentrated on the molecular biology of tick-borne encephalitis virus and TBE vaccines. Later he took up a postdoctoral appointment at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia, and worked on rubella virus and alphavirus molecular biology and vaccine vectors. Dr. Pugachev joined sanofi pasteur (formerly OraVax, Inc. and Acambis, Inc.) ten years ago and made significant contributions to the development of ChimeriVax®-Japanese encephalitis, -dengue and –West Nile vaccines, and other products. He has authored numerous patents and publications including articles, scientific reviews and book chapters. Currently, Dr. Pugachev is the head of the Virology Dept., Discovery USA (Cambridge, MA) at sanofi pasteur, where he is leading the development of a novel vaccine platform, RepliVax®, for new-generation flavivirus vaccines and vaccine vectors.
