Dr. Noel Barrett is Vice-President, Vaccine Research and Development in the Bioscience Division of Baxter Healthcare. He received his B.Sc. at University College Cork, Ireland (1976) and his Ph.D. in Virology at Trinity College Dublin (1979). He subsequently held a post-doctoral fellowship at the Dept. of Virology and Immunology, University of Würzburg, Germany before joining the vaccine industry. He has now had over twenty five years experience in the vaccine industry with management responsibilities covering the complete development process required to bring vaccine products to the market. In this period he has been involved in the licensure of Baxter’s tick-borne encephalitis, meningococcus C and Vero cell derived influenza vaccines.
